PTSD

PTSD is a chronic condition which often causes ongoing distress and poor functioning. This may be due to childhood trauma, wartime events, car accident, assault, or life threatening event to a loved one. An individual may feel like a changed person, tense and on guard. They may feel unable to experience positive emotions and have cognitive difficulties. Those with chronic PTSD are often helped with antidepressant and other medications for relief of low mood, distress and insomnia.

EMDR is a recommended evidence based treatment for PTSD and most effective in single event trauma like a car accident or assault. In addition to prescribed medication and psychological support, you may be referred to an experienced practitioner for EMDR
