Dr Kathryn Black is an experienced Psychiatrist who aims to offer expert, professional and personal care focussed on a person’s needs and goals. Dr Black has extensive experience in public and private health facilities in NSW as well as The Black Dog Institute.

A range of evidence based mental health treatments are offered following comprehensive assessment, with a balance of both medications and psychological support. Recommendations and clinical priorities are discussed in collaboration with each person.

Medical treatments provided are those approved or regulated by the Therapeutic Goods Administration of Australia (TGA), recommended in Clinical Guidelines and meet Australian safety standards. These also include – medical management of treatment resistant depression; medical management of obesity for those with a mental health condition; novel treatments such as medicinal cannabis; medical management for a quit smoking plan including prescribed nicotine.

Dr Black is an Authorised Prescriber for – medicinal cannabis which is helpful for conditions such as anxiety, insomnia and PTSD; as well as nicotine for vaping. There is also certification for the use of medications to treat obesity within a comprehensive management plan. This service is an accredited provider for esketamine (nasal spray ketamine).  A Registered Nurse is available for some treatments.

Care is provided for adults greater than 18 years old who have a mental health condition, including those who are mature age and greater than 65 years old. DVA veterans are welcome.

Monday  to Friday  9am to 6pm

An appointment is needed for entry to the service.

 

Appointments and Fees

This is a specialist medical service and a GP referral is needed

Fees are charged and payable at the time of the appointment

Medicare claims may be arranged on your behalf

Bulk billing is not available at this clinic

Late cancellation fees apply but may be avoided if the service is advised that you are unable to attend by 5pm the previous business day.

 

Telehealth

This is not an exclusive Telehealth service, however, video call Telehealth appointments are available where appropriate and after the first appointment is attended in person.

Fees and Medicare refunds are the same for Telehealth as for in person appointments.

Digital prescribing is not currently available and prescriptions will be posted after a Telehealth appointment.
