About

How can we help you?

Dr Kathryn Black is a general Psychiatrist who offers expert, professional and personal care focussed on an individual’s needs and goals. Following medical studies at the University of Sydney and NSW Institute of Psychiatry, extensive experience has been gained in public and private hospital and community services as well as at the Black Dog Institute.

A range of evidence based mental health treatments are available with a balance of both medications and psychological support. Comprehensive assessment is undertaken so that effective treatment may be offered. Treatment recommendations and clinical priorities are then discussed in collaboration with each person to focus on their recovery, individual goals and improved quality of life.

Suggested medical treatments are evidence based; approved and regulated by the Therapeutic Goods Administration of Australia (TGA); and recommended in Clinical Guidelines. This includes medical management of treatment resistant depression; as well as medical management of obesity as a mental health condition or medication may contribute to weight gain. Dr Black has certification from the University of Melbourne for the use of medications to treat obesity.

Assistance is provided for adults with a mental health condition, older than 18 years including those who are mature age and older than 65 years. DVA veterans are welcome.
